主讲人：夏志宏，数学家、天文学家，美国西北大学终身教授，南方科技大学讲座教授、数学系主任。1982年夏志宏毕业于南京大学天文系；1988年毕业于美国西北大学数学系，之后在哈佛大学和佐治亚理工学院先后任教；1992年彻底解决庞勒维猜想；1993年获得美国总统奖（青年研究者奖）及布拉门塞尔纯数学奖；1994年回到了母校西北大学任数学系终身教授；1996年应用数学Monroe Martin奖得主，2001年起任潘克讲座教授；1999年受聘为北京大学数学学院第一批长江计划特聘教授，杰出青年基金获得者；2015年受聘为南方科技大学数学系创系系主任。主要研究方向：动力系统，哈密尔顿系统，天体力学。

内容简介：In this talk, we will discuss various interesting properties of invariant foliations for a smooth dynamical system on a compact manifold. These properties can be analytical, geometrical and topological in nature. We will discuss how different areas of mathematics can come together and become useful in our study of dynamical systems. The main objects of the talk are partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms and symplectic diffeomorphisms. As an example, we will show how the topology of a manifold can change local behavior of a dynamical system, producing totally unexpected, pathological foliations.
